[VIDEO] David sings "Human Hands" (Elivs Costello cover) - Live from Powell Street BART

This week I want to introduce everyone to David. David is from Oakland, California and currently in a band called Broken Bottles - although good luck finding any information about his band online. Through some minor Internet research I actually came across two bands named Broken Bottles, one is a skate punk group from Orange County, the other is an alt rock group from the UK...David is in neither of these bands. How unfortunate.

Remember kids - once you decide to form a band please be sure to build an Internet presence as soon as possible. Sometimes it pays off in ways you least expect it! Bloggers are everywhere don't ya know? ;)

[VIDEO] Misty performs "I Want Jesus To Walk With Me" - WOW!

Hailing from Tyler, Texas - Misty performs her stunning rendition of the classic spiritual "I Want Jesus to Walk With Me" live at Powell Street BART Station.

Her haunting, soprano vocal style is the perfect compliment to the untuned, bluesy guitar that leisurely keeps the rhythm intact. When she hits those high notes the sounds bounce off the walls of the San Francisco station - and for once I truly take notice of the great acoustics inside the main hall of Powell Street BART.

Misty will try to come back to Powell on Friday if there aren't other musicians already performing. I hope I can be there to catch it! Until then, I place my two dollars on top of her guitar case and continue on home.

But I've said too much - just check out the video!

[REVIEW] Art - The Humble Sax Man

This is Art. He's been playing saxophone off and on for over forty years. "More off than on" he tells me with a rich chuckle. A smile never seems to leave this man's mouth.

I don't know how long he's been playing in the Powell Street BART. He's doesn't want to talk much - just play.

If jazz had a face - it would be Art's. Between the faded beret, square frame eyeglasses, and over the top facial expressions - his sense of cool instantly makes you comfortable.

And then he plays his saxophone.

Introducing the Music of the Powell Street BART Station

I've been living in San Francisco for four years now. Before that I lived in Marin county for almost two decades (only a 45 minute drive away from here). You would think I would be bored of this place by now.

The truth is, despite this city being relatively petite in size, the beauty of San Francisco is the seemlingly limitless amount of creativity and inspiration there is to uncover. It bleeds from the walls. Boredom is never an option.

Which brings me to this blog.
